Students will be supported to develop the ideas that come from this practice and build a small body of work. A range of printed material will be available but please collect and bring to class any materials you would particularly like to work with, (e.g. maps, dressmaking pattern paper, catalogues and magazines, tissue paper, serviettes, gold leaf etc).

What can easily happen then is that we get bored playing the same old things and not progressing. Karl has a bunch of cool things to show you that will enable you to break through that. Time to unpack the language of the Blues. This course will cover practical uses and applications for guitarists through both Major and Minor tonalities with a focus on chord voicings and inversions.

Natural-dyeing and Shibori

This 2 day introductory workshop will give students the chance to discover the magic of extracting colour and imprints from plants, using leaves, flowers, and roots.

Students will be shown several SHIBORI techniques, which is the Japanese word for tie-dyeing, by using stitching, clamping, folding, twisting, and compressing to create intricate patterns.
