A USI, or Unique Student Identifier, is a reference number that creates a secure online record of your recognized training and qualifications in
Australia. It’s like a digital ID for your education journey. You can easily create one on the USI website before enrolling in any course at Byron Community College.

Enrolling in a funded course is simple. First, explore the range of funded courses available on our website. Once you’ve found the one that suits your interests and goals, follow the enrollment process outlined on our website. For courses that have eligibility requirements we will be in touch to finalise all of the registration details with you once you have completed the initial expression of interest forms. Be sure to meet any eligibility criteria for the specific funding program you’re interested in.

Yes, you may still be eligible for funded places even if you’re not receiving Centrelink benefits. Eligibility for funded courses can vary depending on the specific program and your individual circumstances. To check your eligibility, please refer to the course details on our website or contact our friendly staff for personalized guidance.

A full copy of our course brochure is typically released online as a digital version (with interactive clickable links etc) about a month ahead of each term. The printed Brochure is then released approx 2 weeks ahead of the new term. You’ll always find a copy in The Echo and in cafes, libraries, community centres and other local haunts too! To find out the exact release date and access the latest brochure, please visit our website or get in touch with our team. We love sharing and releasing the new brochure with you.

Our Art Studio is a creative hub located in the Laneway that runs along the back of the College, 4 Burringbar St, Mullumbimby NSW 2482. It’s a space where aspiring artists come together to unleash their creativity. You can find more information about the Laneway Art Studio and its courses on our website, including directions and contact details.

Work Development Orders are offered for students undertaking some of our accredited training courses. Contact studentsupport@byroncollege.org.au if you’re not sure if this includes you.

  • Term 1: 2 Feb to 2 April (new course proposals to be sent by 26 September 2025)
  • Term 2: 28 April to 4 July (new course proposals to be sent by 16 January 2026)
  • Term 3: 21 July to 26 September (new course proposals to be sent by 3 April 2026)
  • Term 4: 13 October to 19 December (new course proposals to be sent by 14 July 2026)

Our payment methods are credit cards (Mastercard or Visa card), bank transfer and cheque payments and cash. We do not, however, accept Diner’s Card, American Express. Payments must be made before a course starts (preferably at least a week earlier) especially when resources need to be prepared or ordered.

Fees for funded courses follow government guidelines. No more than $1500 can be collected at any one time. Paid in instalments at the time of enrolment and throughout the duration of the course.

You can nominate the amount for the voucher and the recipient can use it towards any course of their choice. They are available online for purchase. https://byroncollege.org.au/gift-card/

Yes, you can use your Seniors Card for discounts with us. Your Seniors Card will entitle you to a 10% discount. You will need to call through to the office to add in your seniors card for discount.

Details of prior knowledge requirements for a course are listed on each course description. The majority of lifestyle courses are introductory so no prior knowledge or skill is required. However if you are unclear about the requirements for a specific course please contact us.

The course requirements will be specified for each course as part of the course description. If you are still unsure after reading this section, contact us for further assistance.

Yes. If you believe that you are able to meet the course requirements through previous workplace experience and can provide evidence to substantiate this, you may be eligible to apply for RPL.

Further, if you have acquired any of the units of competency in this qualification from previous studies or with

another Registered Training Organisation, you can claim credit for these by providing original/verified copies

of statements of attainment or record of result transcripts.

Refunds will only be issued if cancellation is received at least three full working days before the course starts. A $15 administration fee applies to all cancellations, including course transfers.

We’re here to support you in any way we can. While we understand that personal circumstances can change, refunds requested due to such changes are not guaranteed and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Byron Region Community College offers refunds following a fair and equitable process. Students are entitled to a full course refund without deduction if the College cancels a course for any reason prior to its commencement.

Students are entitled to a statutory cooling-off period of 2 business days from the date of enrolment. Any monies paid during this time will be fully refunded if a student decides to withdraw their enrolment.

Refunds otherwise are not granted automatically. You are expected to be aware of your work and personal commitments before you enrol. A full refund (less a $15 administration fee) will be given if you withdraw minimum five (5) working days before the date of commencement of the course

Total or partial refunds after a course has commenced will only be granted for extenuating circumstances (please refer to the Student Handbook for a complete list of these). An application for a refund is to be addressed in writing to the College Director and will be assessed on a case by case basis.

Full course payment is required to confirm your place in all courses. Byron Community College reserves the right to cancel or postpone any class due to under-enrolment or other unforeseen circumstances. In this case, students will receive a full refund.

Disability access varies depending on the particular venue in which your class is being held. Please contact our enrolment office if you require additional information or assistance.

Mullumbimby Campus –

Free street parking is available around the Mullumbimby Campus.

 

Byron Campus –

No, we don’t have a canteen onsite. There are tea/coffee and milk supplies in our communal kitchen. For weekend courses please bring all food and drink requirements with you.

No, unfortunately, Byron Community College does not have child minding services available.

As there is no child minding you cannot bring your children to class with you. Our courses are geared for adult learning and not structured to entertain children for the duration of the class.

Pets are not allowed on campus, but if you have special needs or disability requirements, a registered companion animal such as a seeing-eye dog is allowed in class with you. Please contact Byron Community College to discuss before attending class and to show proof of papers.

No. As an educational facility Byron Community College has a no-smoking policy in all venues.
