Introduction:

Thinking of starting a business? This one day course is for you!
Colleen will guide you through the essentials, including ABN registration, personal liability insurance considerations, and tips for finding industry-specific registrations and licenses.

We’ll discuss the process of how to check if your business name is available, registering your chosen name, and securing a matching domain name and professional email address. You’ll also learn about the importance of opening a dedicated business bank account and how to link bank feeds in Xero for more streamlined bookkeeping.

We’ll cover best practices for record keeping, understanding supplier invoices, and navigating payment terms.

By the end, you’ll have a clear roadmap to help set up your business and know where to seek further guidance.

Important information

Once your enrolment is completed you will receive a confirmation email. This email will include your receipt and inform you of the dates, times and venue for your course. It will also let you know of anything you need to take to class with you.

Colleen Cook

Collen is the owner-operator of Virtual Businesses Cloudscribe and Platypus Plan Management. A former tax accountant, Colleen made a career change into NDIS Plan Management, which inspired her to create Cloudscribe—a virtual BAS agent service dedicated to supporting independent NDIS providers.
Colleen’s extensive professional background includes working as a taxation accountant in both large and small firms, as well as running her own small business. This wealth of experience provides her with a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by small business owners and business start ups. 

As a long-time Xero partner, Colleen’s preferred accounting software is Xero, and all of her training courses are taught using this platform. Her thorough knowledge of Xero’s features and capabilities ensures that clients and course participants gain practical, hands-on experience that they can apply immediately in their own businesses.
