Course content

During this course, a panel of industry experts will guide you through the following topics:

• Design Fundamentals: Introduction to key principles and design aesthetics.

• Spatial Planning: Strategies for optimising layouts and flow.

• Lighting: Techniques for using light to create mood and enhance functionality.

• Colour: Choosing colours to reflect trends and achieve desired effects.

• Materiality: Exploring materials and finishes for durable, stylish designs.

Course activities & (optional) assignments

Please note there is no requirement to submit any activities in this course for grading. However, the course features the following activities & assignments to enhance your learning and give you the option to apply key concepts learnt in a practical context:

• Knowledge checks: Quizzes to reinforce learning.

• Activity: Create a mood board for a real or hypothetical design project.

• Activity: Draw a floor plan to scale, showing a functional layout.

• Final Project: Concept Presentation. Develop a full interior design concept, including a design brief, mood board, and equipment schedules.

 

Course duration and hours

This is an online course that is delivered by our education partner Ulleo, a specialist in industry-led short courses.

This course will take approximately 30 hours to complete.

Students will need a computer, laptop, or tablet device with an internet connection to access the course. There are no other prerequisites.
