Tutor Profile:

Nelly le Comte

As a photographer, Food photography has my passion. Originally from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I am now based in Byron Bay, and work as a freelance commercial photographer specialising in food and lifestyle. I also publish and produce cook books with mouthwatering images for various chefs, nutritionists and other clients.

My interest for photography started at a young age, when I spent lots of time in photography studio’s as a model and later make-up artist. After initially choosing this career path I started a very successful make-up academy in Amsterdam, during which time I also produced my first book and started writing for women’s magazines.

However my passion for photography surfaced and soon after I changed tack and decided to study photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague. Shortly after graduating in 1996, I became the chief photographer for a popular body and lifestyle magazine in The Netherlands.

In Australia for the last 20 years my love of the region has brought me to base myself in Byron Bay. From where I am happy to travel to the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Lismore and Sydney. My latest book, is “Byron Bay – a taste of the region”, where I could combine my love of food, styling and photography.

I live with my husband, daughter, dog and several alpacas in Byron Bay’s hinterland. I love cooking, running and yoga and feeding my family fabulous organic produce from my own vegie patch.
