Introduction:
Bananas, are one of the easiest and most versatile food plants to cultivate. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to grow, manage, and harvest a banana clump organically.
Explore the best local varieties, including Plantains and how to utilize them in your kitchen including cooking with green bananas, banana bell and stem.
Sharon's garden in the heart of Mullumbimby town is both beautiful and productive. Devoted to growing food plants it supplies most of her family's food needs on a typical suburban block. We will do a hands on demonstration of green banana flour and banana string.

Students are required to be 15 years old and above at the time of enrolment.

Sharon Gibson
Sharon is a Permaculture and sustainability trainer and project coordinator with a passion for urban farming, local food projects and community gardens.She has been farming for over 2 decades and has experience in design and management of both urban and rural permaculture systems. Sharon is deeply committed to sustainability, and is an inspirational teacher who walks her talk.
Her suburban block in the town of Mullumbimby is an award winning show case in urban sustainable living. Sharon believes permaculture is not about becoming an expert but rather generalists who gather skills and knowledge from many disciplines to create integrated systems. Right now Sharon is most passionate about experimenting with cooking with unusual plants, dwarf milking goats and food preserving.
