Introduction:

Light, Bright and Fresh are natural qualities of the translucent, flowing medium of watercolour painting. But sometimes our tones and colours can look muddy and overworked, washed out or too dark. Over two Saturdays, we will look at the processes, techniques, colours and mindset which help to better express the vitality and beauty of this versatile medium. Suitable for all levels of experience. All materials supplied.

Tutor Profile:

Harry Westera

As a ‘Contemporary Realist’ artist, Harry seeks to create images that express the wonderful in the ordinary. He does this through keen observation and appreciation of light falling on forms to reveal tone and colour. He teaches his students the skills to develop their own personal means of artistic expression.

Harry trained in drawing and painting at the Julian Ashton Art School and under the Tonal Impressionist portrait painter Graeme Inson. He has studied watercolour under well-known watercolourists David Taylor and Ross Paterson.

He has an honors degree in Art History and Theory, is a qualified secondary Visual Arts teacher and has conducted many Adult Education classes and workshops.
