Information For Students
Subsidised Training under Smart and Skilled
These courses are being offered as subsidised courses to eligible students under the NSW Government Smart and Skilled program. Smart and Skilled is a reform of the NSW Vocational Education and Training (VET) system. It’s helping people in NSW get the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers. Many of our full qualifications have full or part fee subsidies available for eligible students.
To apply for any of the funded places you must:
- Be an Australian citizen, a permanent Australian resident, a humanitarian visa holder or a New Zealand citizen; and
- Be aged 15 years or older (unless otherwise stated);
- Live or work in New South Wales (see exception ); and
- No longer be at school or equivalent (excluding home school students ); and
- Provide the College with your USI at the time of enrolment
To apply for a Smart and Skilled North Coast Flood Relief Waiver place you must:
- Enroll between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023, and
- Live or work or attend training in any of the following local government areas; Ballina, Byron, Clarence Valley, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Tweed.
To apply for a Smart and Skilled Fee-Free Scholarship place you must:
- Be aged between 15-30 years of age; and
- Provide evidence of your concession-eligibility; or
- Provide evidence of eligibility for a disability fee exemption
To apply for a Skilling for Recovery Fee-Free place you must be:
- Aged between 16 to 24 of age at commencement of training (regardless of employment status, including Year 12 School leavers); or
- Commonwealth Benefit Recipient (over 30 years of age); or
- Unemployed (not a Commonwealth Benefit Recipient); or
- An employed person who is at risk of becoming unemployed
Other Smart and Skilled Fee-Free waivers:
- Dependent of a person with a disability; or
- Refugees and asylum seeker; or
- Out-of-Home Care (aged 15 – 30 years); or
- Domestic and Family Violence
Applications for these subsidised* places are limited so a funded place cannot be guaranteed.
