Ryan Marlow - Certificate III in Aged Care
After moving to the Northern Rivers almost 9yrs ago from the Newcastle area, my employment has always been off and on with different casual positions. My work background was as a Paratrooper in the Army, a Photographer on a Cruise Ship anda Pest Technician baiting Termites amongst other things. I had thought about Nursing as a Career option but was a bit timid about going to University, after not studying for years, so I thought I would take small steps to get there.
Cert 3 in Aged Care with Byron Community College has become the first step and vehicle into a new Career. It is going to provide me with enough learning and study to build a foundation for further studies down the track and also give me the knowledge, understanding and experience to work in a growing field and have the opportunity and privilege to care for our elders. As a man, there are many work opportunities, everywhere within Aged Care. The course was straightforward in it’sdelivery and facilitated by teachers who currently do work in the industry, so their “fingers are on the pulse”, giving us the latest information available pertaining to Aged Care.
I feel confident to go into the workforce and demonstrate the new abilities learnt with Byron College and feel I will be a professional and capable employee.
