Introduction:

Ever wanted to take your painting outdoors but felt too intimidated to even try? Not sure what to pack, or what to focus on once you get there? This taster course is perfect for you!

Join Kym as she walks you through her plein air painting process—what materials to bring, how to choose the perfect location, and simple ways to simplify a landscape. You’ll see how she handles tone, colour, and composition to capture the atmosphere of the scene.

This session combines live demonstration with clear explanations, giving you the confidence and know-how to tackle painting in the great outdoors.


What to bring:
Notepad pen for notetaking and a sense of adventure.

Important information

Once your enrolment is completed you will receive a confirmation email. This email will include your receipt and inform you of the dates, times and venue for your course. It will also let you know of anything you need to take to class with you.

Tutor Profile:

Kym Beaton
Kym is a landscape and life painter whose work captures the energy and spontaneity of painting from life. Formally trained in graphic design, she has received awards including the APANZ Artist Member Honour in New Zealand’s pastel community and has featured on Colour In Your Life. Passionate about sharing her skills, Kym leads workshops, plein air sessions, and life-drawing classes to inspire and mentor other artists.
