Introduction:
In this one-day course, you’ll learn how to source and process pigments from found and reclaimed materials to create traditional permanent paints, and inks. We’ll cover a range of recipes and methods for tempera, watercolour, and drawing ink, allowing you to create a diverse range of materials directly from nature and sources of colour around you. The emphasis in this course is on practical and sustainable methods for artists and creatives to add to your art kit as an alternative to shop bought supplies.
This workshop is a day of making paints from charcoal, ash, brick, gum and honey, egg tempera and glair, so you can take home colour and medium recipes for your art supplies.
What to Bring
- Sketchbook
- Favourite brush or nib pen
- Wear old clothes as some of the materials we’ll use can stain
