Introduction:

Join artist Liv Enqvist for a three-part workshop series exploring embroidery and soft sculpture as tools for creative expression, mindfulness, and storytelling. This course is open to complete beginners, practicing artists, and everyone in between.

Across three Thursday evening sessions, you’ll learn intuitive hand embroidery techniques and experiment with both traditional and unconventional materials. Working in flat and three-dimensional forms, you’ll create a unique textile artwork that reflects your own voice, whether through stitched drawings, sculptural textures, or poetic text.

The series culminates in a group exhibition in the Community Arts Hub gallery, featuring work by Liv and participants, offering everyone the opportunity to showcase their finished pieces in a professional setting.

You'll also be guided in how to photograph and document your piece in nature, a signature element of Liv’s practice, revealing how the landscape can echo, soften, or transform the work you’ve made.

This course is about slowing down, tuning in, and finding your creative voice through the meditative act of embroidery. You’ll learn foundational stitching techniques, work with recycled and foraged materials, and explore both 2D and 3D textile construction.

Participants will develop their own piece across the month, with time to continue at home between sessions. The course also includes gentle insights into the history of textile art, practical skills in curation and installation, and the opportunity to take part in a group exhibition.

Whether you're new to textiles or returning to making, this is a joyful, supportive space to experiment and express.
