What to Bring

  • The tutor will provide a selection of yarns, fabric, glues, frame, tufting gun and all other materials. But feel free to bring any new, recycled, vintage or specific colour 4-8ply yarns you would like to use for your rug, but not cotton or velvet covered yarns as these do not work.

Tutor Profile:

Kelly Hunt

My name is Kelly, originally from Victoria, but have settled in the Northern Rivers area for 19 years. I am a mother to two beautiful daughters (26 & 11) and love exploring and connecting with the beautiful culture and nature in this area. I am primarily a Family Consultant with 15 years experience working in the Community Services Sector supporting children and families. I gravitate towards art expression for healing and self care. This has included painting, drawing, poetry, sewing, welding, clay, and rug making to name a few.

Currently I am focused on making tufted rugs that are inspired by our unique Australian animals. I have facilitated a few wellbeing classes in my work experience and love the idea of bringing people together through art and creation. It is a pleasure to teach others a new skill so they can express themselves artistically, whilst connecting with other creative peoples.
