Interested in building, carpentry or getting hands-on with tools? This course is a great place to start! Develop practical construction skills, learn how to use tools and equipment, work with building materials and understand how construction projects come together. Whether you’re thinking about a future in the building industry or want to try something new, you’ll gain useful skills and experience to help you take the next step.
Delivered face-to-face at our Mullumbimby Campus in the Laneway Studio, this 10-week course combines practical learning with the essential knowledge needed to work safely and confidently on a construction site. Learn to read building plans, take measurements, carry out basic levelling and work as part of a team. On successful completion, you’ll receive a CPC20220 Certificate II in Construction Pathways, giving you a foundation to explore further training or a career in construction.
What you’ll learn:
- Use basic carpentry tools and equipment safely and confidently.
- Measure, calculate and mark out materials accurately.
- Read and interpret building plans and specifications.
- Handle construction materials and understand how they’re used.
- Apply workplace health and safety practices on a construction site.
- Plan and organise work, follow instructions and complete a basic construction project.
Course Duration
- Course dates: 1 Feb - 6 April 2027
- The course duration is:10 weeks
- The weekly workload is 18 hours per week (classroom and home study)
Course Delivery
- Face-to-face learning delivered at our Mullumbimby Campus: Mondays & Tuesdays - 9:00am - 3:00pm
- Self-paced learning/assessment at home: 6 hours per week
- Assessments are primarily conducted on campus in a supervised format, using paper-based methods with some online components.

Course Completion
Following successful completion of this course, you will be awarded the CPC20220 Certificate II in Construction Pathways

- The required foundation skills in reading, numeracy, writing and oral communication are at ACSF level 1-2
- Applicants will participate in a pre-enrolment interview as part of the enrolment process

- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder, or a New Zealand citizen; and
