Community Arts Hub at Byron Community College

Located in the iconic Chincogan Mowers building in Mullumbimby, the Community Arts Hub is a vibrant creative space supported by Byron Community College.

The Hub includes:

  • A professional gallery space for artists to showcase their work
  • A co-working/studio space for artists and creatives
  • Purpose-built learning studios for visual arts and printmaking

This unique venue brings together exhibitions, education, and creative space for making and gathering, supporting artistic development and community connection across the region.

The Hub’s mission is to make the arts accessible to everyone, inviting all to participate and explore their creative potential. Whether you’re an aspiring artist, a seasoned professional, or someone looking to try something new, the Community Arts Hub is here to support your artistic journey.

This space is proudly funded by the NSW Government through the Community Local Infrastructure Recovery Program (CLIRP) and Create NSW.

HIRE RATES AND IMAGES:

The gallery includes a track hanging system with cables and hooks to hang up to 25 works.

We offer a flat rate fee, as opposed to a commission based payment structure.

  • Established Artists – $500 p/w
  • Emerging Artists – $350 p/w
  • Student Artists – $300 p/w
  • Alternative/Commercial Use – $500 p/w

The large shared co-working/studio space comfortably accommodates up to four artists, with artists welcome to share one space.

The studio is located above the learning areas and includes reverse-cycle air conditioning, heating, and a private toilet.

Commercial and NFP rates – $90 p/w + gst

The two large studios host programs including the Certificate III in Visual Arts, short courses, and weekend workshops.

Studios include:

  • Reverse-cycle air conditioning and heating
  • Smart TV/projector
  • Broadband internet
  • Access to kitchen (fridge, mugs, etc.)
  • Toilet facilities

The space now includes a print-focused facility with equipment for screen printing, intaglio, relief, and photographic processes. Supporting infrastructure includes a washout unit, filtration tank, and laser printer setup.

Studio 1 – Single Room Hire:

  • Commercial: $50/hr (min 2 hrs), $150 half day (4 hrs), $260 full day (8 hrs)
  • Not-for-profit: $35/hr (min 2 hrs), $90 half day (4 hrs), $160 full day (8 hrs)

Studio 2 – Single Room Hire:

  • Commercial: $50/hr (min 2 hrs), $150 half day (4 hrs), $260 full day (8 hrs)
  • Not-for-profit: $35/hr (min 2 hrs), $90 half day (4 hrs), $160 full day (8 hrs)

Printing Press (no supplies provided)

  • Mandatory Onsite Training (1 hr): $90
  • Full Day Access (8 hrs): $90
  • Evening Access (4 hrs): $45
  • Consecutive 7-Day Access (when available): $500

All rates are + GST. All hires require a refundable $200 bond.
