Introduction:
Learn the fundamentals of jewellery making in silver such as sawing, filing, soldering, forming and polishing to achieve various textures and finishes. During the workshop, you will also gain an understanding of silver's properties, as well as the equipment and tools used to work with this precious metal.
In class, you will design and make your own jewellery pieces, beginning with a simple silver ring and then making a hand-formed chain bracelet as a subsequent project. You can expect to complete two pieces of finished jewellery.
At the end of this course, you will go home with a foundation of knowledge and skills of basic jewellery making as well as your ready-to-wear silver jewellery pieces.
What to bring
- Pencil, paper and scissors
- $90 to tutor at first class for materials
- Wear closed-in shoes, no loose clothing and tie up long hair
- Bring your own lunch
- A degree of hand strength and steadiness are required in silversmithing

Michelle Walker
Michelle is a highly experienced facilitator with 22 years of experience gained in strategic planning, program evaluation, and community engagement processes. Her expertise in workshop facilitation has been recognized through her accreditation as a Certified Professional Facilitator® by the International Facilitation Association. Specialising in Graphic Facilitation and Recording, Michelle brings her group-work experience and her creative abilities to deliver stand-out results for groups in their meetings, workshops and conferences.
Through her signature training programs, ‘Facilitation for Change-Makers’ and ‘Essentials of Visual Thinking for Organisational Leaders’, Michelle has shared her practical, grounded experience with students and organisations around the world. She continues to receive strong, positive feedback from participants regarding the impact and usefulness of these trainings.
As an author, Michelle has written several books in the facilitation field including her latest title, ‘15 Visual Templates for Facilitators’, as well as contributing to the recently released ‘World of Visual Facilitation’.
