Course Duration & Hours
  • Course dates:
    • 30 April - 22 Aug 2024
    • 27 Aug - 19 Dec 2024
  • 15 week duration
  • 3 days of face-to-face onsite learning per week, 9.30am – 3.30pm, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
  • 1 day unstructured at home study per week, 9.30am – 3.30pm
  • Delivery location: Mullumbimby Campus
  • Assessments will be completed in hard copy and online formats
  • No classes in NSW school holidays
 
Units of Study

14
units of study are required to complete FSK20119 - Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways:
  1. FSKLRG011 Use routine strategies for work-related learning
  2. FSKNUM008 Use whole numbers and simple fractions, decimals and percentages for work
  3. FSKWTG003 Write short and simple workplace information
  4. FSKWTG008 Complete routine workplace formatted texts
  5. BSBTEC203 Research using the internet
  6. HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  7. HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  8. FSKLRG009 Use strategies to respond to routine workplace problems
  9. FSKLRG010 use routine strategies for career planning
  10. FSKDIG003 Use digital technology for non-routine workplace tasks
  11. FSKRDG008 Read and respond to information in routine visual and graphic texts
  12. FSKOCM006  Use oral communication skills to participate in workplace teams
  13. FSKOCM005 Use oral communication skills for effective workplace presentations
  14. FSKNUM015 Estimate, measure and calculate with routine metric measurements for work
4 units of study are required to complete the additional subjects included in the course:
  1. SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety
  2. SITHFAB025 Prepare and serve espresso coffee
  3. SITXCCS011 Interact with customers
  4. FSKRDG005 Read and respond to simple and familiar workplace procedures
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

Admission / Desirable Requirements
When studying with Byron Community College, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to ensure you have the pre-existing knowledge and skills required to complete your qualification. This course involves reading and undertaking a range of written assessments. A full list of admission / desirable requirements is available in the course Information Pack, please call or email the college for details.

Course Fees
The fee below applies to all eligible Smart and Skilled students:
Smart and Skilled Fee Free Foundations Skills  - $0
 
To be eligible for Smart and Skilled government subsidised training, you must:
Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder, or a New Zealand citizen; and
Live or work in New South Wales; and
Be aged 15 years or older; and
No longer be at school or equivalent; and
Provide the College with your USI at the time of enrolment (admin staff can assist you in obtaining a USI)

Student Policies and Procedures

USI
From the 1st of January 2015, any student enrolling in an Accredited Training course will be required to obtain a USI. The USI helps to keep your training records and results together in an online account which is controlled by you. You can logon to the USI website here and follow the simple instructions online to create your USI. This then needs to be provided to the College at the time of enrolment.
